HTC's latest flagship phone, the HTC U or HTC Ocean, will be having built-in sensors in the edge. This may possibly be the company's key in getting back in the limelight.

The feature would let the phone perform different tasks depending on how long the user squeezes the device, according to a report by Android Headlines. The new Edge Sense technology by HTC will may attempt to provide a better one-hand use for users. The squeezing movement may launch to several phone applications like the camera, Google Assistant and even turning the Wi-Fi Hotspot on or off.

In terms of hardware, HTC's latest flagship phone will feature Qualcomm's Snapdragon 835 processor along with a 4GB or 6GB RAM and 64GB or 128GB internal storage. Apart from that, it will also sport a 5.5-inch Quad HD display with Gorilla Glass 5.

The HTC U is expected to have a 3000mAh battery, Bluetooth 4.2, and Wi-Fi 802.11ac 2.4GHz and 5GHz. It will be running on Android 7.1 Nougat with Sense Home UI operating system, according to The Verge.

This will also feature a fingerprint scanner as an added feature and the prominent Edge Sense. HTC will also include its BoomSound technology in the new HTC U smartphone as the company's trademark. However, like other phones in the HTC U series, it also does not feature a headphone jack. It will use a USB Type C headphone instead.

In terms of camera, the HTC U will have a 12MP rear camera and a 16MP front camera. It will also have a HDR+ with the real-time HDR image processing in the viewfinder before the photo is taken. Reports also stated that there will be a Smart Video Zoom feature on the camera but it is not yet clear on how the functionality works. If all speculated high-end features will come to fruition, it will surely give HTC the edge it needs to be back on top in the mobile industry.
