Xiaomi has announced a newer version of Mi Notebook Air with upgraded specifications.

Powered with different Intel processors, the Xiaomi Mi Notebook Air were announced in two screen size options of 12.5-inch and 13.3-inch in 2016. The former variant is driven by the sixth generation Intel core M3 processor whereas the latter is powered by Intel Core i5 processor. The Chinese manufacturer has announced an upgraded version for 12.5-inch Mi Notebook Air. The announcement was done through Xiaomi's Weibo account.

The new 12.5-inch Mi Notebook Air is powered by the seventh generation of Intel Core M3 processor which offers 12 percent better performance than the predecessor generation. The processor is supported by 4 GB of RAM.

The original model came with a single storage option of 128 GB, but the new one comes with an additional storage size of 256 GB, Gizmo China reported. As far as the design of the new model is concerned, it is same as that of the predecessor generation. The new 12.5-inch model has a slim profile of 12.9 mm and its weight is 1.07 kg. The device is graced with a metal unibody.

Its battery can run for 11.5 hours with nominal use on a single charge. The device also supports fast charging like the previous generation model. Xiaomi will begin the registration of the new Xiaomi Mi Notebook Air 12.5 from March 30 starting at 10 AM through Mi.com. As of this writing, there is no information available on the pricing of the Mi Notebook Air. The starting price of the original model is 3,499 ($507). It is likely that the upgraded model will carry a slightly costlier price tag.

Xiaomi is also rumored to be working on its flagship smartphones, the Mi 6 and Mi 6 Plus that will be fueled by Snapdragon 835 chipset. Speculations have that both phones may get unveiled in April.
