Sledgehammer Games is set to reveal the official "Call of Duty 2017" details sometime in April. However, it appears that the cat is out of the bag as leaked photos that are said to be promotional materials for the game are circulating online.

These leaked pictures reveal a slew of gameplay tidbits about the upcoming COD game, which is currently dubbed as "Call of Duty 2017." But if this latest development is any indication, the next entry to the first-person video game franchise will be titled "Call of Duty WWII."

The title is in line with the game setting, which features the World War II events. Now, this is music to the ears of fans who have hoped to experience the happenings of the Second World War in a game.

The most recent leak is courtesy of an anonymous source. The said images not only suggest the title of the next "Call of Duty" will arrive this year. It further offered a first look at the game's promo poster, steel book cases, and box art for the game, as presented in a video by YouTuber Ali-A.

Amidst the frenzy among COD fans, several Redditors have scrutinized the veracity of the leaked pictures and some claim that one of the images belongs to the WWII movie, "Saving Private Ryan." Just like any leak, however, this must be taken with precaution as we wait for a comment or official details from Activision or Sledgehammer games.

If in any case, this leak is legit, the "Call of Duty WWII" is expected to pique the interest of gamers given that "Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare" was not very appealing to the franchise's loyal fanbase.

Activision is yet to make an official announcement on the exact release date of "Call of Duty 2017 now known as "Call of Duty WWII." But based on the past games' releases, it will likely be launched across current-gen consoles and PC in November.
