Release of Finalized iOS 10.2 Jailbreak Happening Soon as Apple Begins Official Rollout of v. 10.3?

Beta 7 proved to be the precursor for the final release of iOS 10.3, which for the most part will mark Apple's transition from HFS+ to File System APFS. Now that the iOS jump is official, will jailbreak creators Luca Todesco and Team Pangu take the cue and finally let loose a completed iOS 10.2 JB tool?

Rumors say iOS 10.3 is the last in the series and Apple will turn its attention on iOS 11, which for jailbreak devs like Todesco and Pangu (and even TaiG) could be the fitting occasion to check if the 10.2 exploits they have been working on still exist, left unpatched with the latest OS release. Many in the jailbreak community were hoping that v. 10.3 will finally prod the jailbreak providers to finalize whatever progress they got on iOS 10.2.

But to be clear, 10.3 coming out could mean two things. Either a better crack will be realized or Todesco and Pangu will raise the white flag - jailbreaking will commence the countdown to its own demise. And that likely is the prospective situation with the Chinese hacking group Pangu. The team has been unable to follow up on its iOS 9.xx jailbreak.

The last time Pangu was heard the group showed off Cydia running on the then unreleased iOS 10, sparking rumors that a jailbreak on the OS could be issued ahead of the official rollout. As it turned out, the hackers from China failed to provide even a semi-tethered jailbreak effort, and then the group retreated to unexplained silence.

Not the case with Todesco. Previously, the Italian dev made his mark in the jailbreak scene by pointing to possible iOS backdoors that jailbreak makers can then use to crack open the software. But in the absence of an iOS 10 jailbreak solution, the security researcher came up with Yalu1011 and Yalu102.

The tools, however, remain in beta status though Todesco has made commitments that he will have them finalize - extend support to all 64-bit devices and make them more stable and usable. It's likely that Apple releasing iOS 10.3 is the moment Todesco is waiting for to wrap up his jailbreak work.

But in the event of a finalized jailbreak release, no matter who the source is, it's important to note that the tool is unlikely to be based on version 10.3. Apple has confirmed, according to BGR, that with APFS at the core of the OS bump, iOS has become more efficient with the bonus of a tougher security protocol.

The same report said iOS 10.3 boasts of an enhanced encryption to keep users a lot safer from possible breaches, and most importantly to frustrate the expected jailbreak attempts. That's like saying there could be a finalized jailbreak on iOS 10.2 but it could take some time for the follow up to come around.
