The Nokia 2017 comeback will be initially headlined by three Android smartphones and the retro treat that is the rebooted Nokia 3310. The Nokia 3, 5 and 6 have their compelling qualities to merit due attention, foremost of which is the Pure Android to power the devices. But the 3310 is not exactly an easy sell.

Sure, the resurrected basic phone hogged the spotlight when introduced by HMD Global during the MWC 2017 last February but to actually buy the device when it comes out seems not a wise decision. In fact, Android Authority is inclined to recommend a skip and the report made some compelling arguments to support its view.

For starters, the Nokia 3310 as a basic phone will be bogged down by numerous limitations. The specs will be inferior when pitted against even the low-specced smartphones. There is no doubt that even if the device was recipient of some fair amounts of modern treatment, it will still be generations behind in terms of mobile technology.

HMD confirmed the new Nokia 3310 will only work on 2G network, which is a technology that is on its way out. In a few years' time 2G will be no more and that means the 3310 will be soon obsolete and useless.

And for practicality's sake, the 3310 is far from a good buy. True, the $50+ sticker price is dirt cheap but for wise buyers the better option is to look for Android phones that sell for under $100 or even a bit higher. The initial expense of getting an Android instead is certainly higher but the overall benefits would be incomparable over that of the 3310.

To be clear, there are just too many restrictions that will jump out of the box with the 3310, Android Authority said on its report.

But that's not the case with HMD's Nokia 3, 5 and 6. The Nokia 6, for instance, is a decent mid-ranger and packed with the following: a 5.5-inch display, Snapdragon 430 chip with 3GB of RAM and camera combo of 16MP on rear and 8MP on front. By all accounts, the device is a package that is hard to ignore.

And more so when price is of chief concern when buying. The Verge said the Nokia 6 will start at $242, which is affordable enough. However, those really on the tight budget can instead go for the Nokia 5 and 3, which the same report said will retail at $199 and $147, respectively.

All three Pure Android Nokia smartphones will reach U.S. shores real soon as The Verge indicated on its report that release date will happen as early as April 2017.
