The Microsoft Surface Phone will reportedly be launched in 2019. Microsoft is said to be concentrating on a foldable Windows phone that will be released this year.

According to a Redditor zombieacc, the phone is still under development, and it will not be launched this year. There were speculations that Microsoft could unveil the Surface Phone in 2017. However, it is now expected to be launched in 2019, according to Droid Report.

Meanwhile, Microsoft reportedly submitted a patent application in January describing a device that seems to be a foldable tablet. The tablet is designed to be used as a smartphone when folded.

There are many indications that a Windows foldable device will possibly be launched soon with the planned release of an identical technology by Samsung and LG. The two tech companies are said to be gearing for the release of foldable devices this year.

It is expected that 10nm technology-based chipsets will be used in major devices as they provided better battery life and performance in comparison to 14nm chipsets. They will reportedly be included in the Samsung Galaxy S8, Apple's iPhone 8 and other flagship smartphones.

Rumor has it that the Surface Phone will be powered by the Snapdragon 830 or 835 processor. It is said that the smartphone will be compatible with the Surface Pen stylus. Moreover, the upcoming Microsoft device will reportedly ditch the 3.5mm audio jack for a USB-C port.

The USB-C port will serve as an audio input and as a charging port. It is expected that the phone will sport a 21 MP rear-facing camera with a Carl Zeiss lens. Microsoft has not confirmed any details about the Surface Phone.
