After the launch of Ryzen 7, AMD has officially unveiled the Ryzen 6 series for desktop PCs.

Ryzen 7 has been manufactured high-end desktops, but the newly announced Ryzen 5 is built to power midrange PCs. The Ryzen 5 will rival the Intel Core i5 series processors, Anand Tech reported. There are four SKUs of Ryzen which includes 1600X, 1600, 1500x and 1400. All of them are based on the same AM4 platform that is available with Ryzen 7.

The Ryzen 5 1600X has six cores with 12 threads. Its base clock speed is 3.6 GHz with 4.0 GHz turbo speed along with 95W TDP. I The Ryzen 5 1600 also features six cores and 12 threads that delivers a base clock speed of 3.2 GHz. It supports 3.6 GHz turbo speed along with 65W TDP. Both processors are equipped with L3 16 MB cache. Both are respectively priced are $249 and $219. The Ryzen 5 1600 comes with AMD Wraith Spire cooler

The Ryzen 5 1500X has four cores and 12 threads. It produces a base clock speed of 3.5 GHz along with 3.7 GHz turbo speed along with 65W TDP. It is priced at $189. It also features a AMD Wrath Spire cooler. The Ryzen 5 1400 also features four cores and 12 threads. It has a base clock speed of 3.2 GHz and 3.4 GHz turbo speed. It features 8 MB L3 cache, 65W TDP and comes with Wraith Stealth cooler. It costs $169, GSM Arena reported. All four SKUs come with unlocked multiplier for overclocking.

None of the above comes with integrated graphics. So, buyers will also have to invest on a dedicated GPU. As AMD is doing for Ryzen 7, the company is promoting the number of cores and multithread performance of the Ryzen 5. In comparison to the Geekbench score of Intel Core i5-7600K, the 1600X scored 69 percent higher score. The Ryzen 5 variants will go on sale from April 11.
