The Nintendo NES Classic Edition, which swept the gaming world with its re-release in 2016, is reportedly back on the shelves. However, interested buyers are advised to purchase one fast as it is expected to sell out sooner than later.

According to University Herald, NES Classic Edition is available once again at major retailers. Just a few days ago, Amazon had over 150 stocks, but they are available at higher prices. The same can be said for other U.S. retailers such as Walmart and Newegg.

The original price of the NES Mini is only $60, so $150 or above is a steep price to pay for a console with only 30 games. Games cannot be added, so what customers see is all they get. Unfortunately, there is no store right now that sells it at its original pricing.

The demand for the classic system is still high following the recent launch of the Nintendo Switch. The hybrid console proved to be a hit among gamers, especially when paired with "Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild" that scored almost perfect in reviews.

Nintendo fans need not worry anymore, though, as soon enough, a surplus of NES Classic Edition will make its way to stores. Inquisitr previously reported that 2 million units are being planned for release this month supposedly after the Switch's launch.

Nintendo President Tatsumi Kimishima also confirmed in an earnings briefing in early February that the company is increasing production. He also apologized for the product shortages, citing the difficulty of getting some parts as the reason why production is taking too much time. The Japanese company also did not expect this level of obsession from fans, so it is not a surprise that they were not able to produce enough NES Mini units to satisfy the demands.
