Recent rumors had hinted that the Xiaomi Mi 6 release date would be set in April, but newer information suggest that its arrival has been pushed back.

The mass production of Surge S1, the in-house SoC from Xiaomi has started. The Chinese firm is also ready with samples of its successor, the Surge S2. The mass production of the 16 nm octa-core processor is expected to begin in the last quarter of 2017.

New reports suggest that the issue of concern for Xiaomi is the launch date of Mi 6. It is expected to be the first Chinese smartphone to come with Snapdragon 835 SoC but the release of the smartphone is highly dependent on the availability of SD 835 chips.

The Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ are hogging all the limelight as they are expected to get announced on March 29. Qualcomm's first stock for Snapdragon 835 has been assigned to power Galaxy S8 and S8+ smartphones, meaning other manufactures will have to release their devices with SD 835 well after the launch of Galaxy S8 phones. Hence, other manufacturers such as Xiaomi, OnePlus and Nubia are pegged to introduce their flagship in the second quarter of this year, Gizmo China reported.

New information suggest that the Xiaomi Mi 6 would be sporting a super-slim chassis and it will include 6 GB of RAM to support the SD 835 chip. It is also rumored to feature dual rear cameras and carry support for fast charging. Compared to predecessor models, the Mi 6 is expected to arrive with a costlier pricing of 2,999 Yuan ($433),

The Chinese carrier is rumored to release up to three variants of Mi 6. The first variant is expected to include a quad HD dual edge screen whereas the second model is pegged to arrive with a full HD flash screen. Both phones are rumored to come with Snapdragon 835 chip. A third variant of the phone dubbed as Xiaomi Mi 6 Youth may come powered by MediaTek Helio X30, Phone Arena reported.
