Nintendo has confirmed that more game titles are planned for the Nintendo Switch and one sure imminent arrival will be that of the Super Smash Bros. franchise. While the game release date for Switch remains unknown, a new character is likely part of the push for the new console.

Super Smash on the Nintendo Switch is as sure as Zelda and Mario becoming part of the platform. This according to Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime, who declared that since the game is considered as among Nintendo's bestselling franchises it has to be on the Switch.

"There's gonna be one great Super Mario experience, there's gonna be great Zelda experience, so you can expect, you can anticipate at some point in the future, who knows when, that all of our franchises will be addressed," Fils-Aime was reported by Game Spot as saying.

"What we say is that the philosophy that Nintendo has from a development standpoint is that for every platform, we want to have at least one [each] of our classic franchises," added the Nintendo executive.

Fils-Aime, however, stopped short of providing further details on the Super Smash debut on the Nintendo Switch but basing on a report from iDigitalTimes, there will be a new character addition for the Switch version of Super Smash. "With the confirmation that it is part of the Smash series, fans should expect at least one new character whenever a Super Smash Bros. Nintendo Switch port is released," the report claimed.

The same report added that a new Super Smash Amiibo release is likely scheduled around May 2017, and possibly to follow shortly is a Nintendo Switch port for the same game title. But to be clear, no release date details have been provided by the game maker so far.

Meanwhile, Fils-Aime revealed too that apart from Mario Kart, Splatoon 2 and Super Mario Odyssey as upcoming titles for the Nintendo Switch a WWE 2K game could be in the cards. Also in consideration are the addition of Netflix and other streaming services and cloud-based saving.

But Switch offering anything on AR or VR might be remote for now as Nintendo sees both as niche market, Game Spot said on its report.
