However, according to new reports, the Xperia Z5 lineup will now get the Android Marshmallow update in February. In addition, the Xperia Z4 and Xperia Z2 will possibly get their Android 6.0 updates next month.

Xperia Z3 series will be the next iterations to get the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update. According to an iDigitalTimes report, the Xperia Z3 Compact and Xperia Z3 have their Android 6.0 firmware, these versions are beta files, as part of the Android Concept beta program of the company.

Meanwhile, it was expected that the Xperia C4 and C5 Ultra will also get the latest update. However, the tech company rolled out the Android 5.1 update for the Xperia devices.

Last year, when Sony had said that it would be rolling out the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update soon to its Xperia devices, the omission of the Xperia Z1 and Xperia Z caused discomfort among the owners of the handsets. The Xperia Z1 and Xperia Z  have the hardware to be able to run the newest software.

It was thought that the two devices will not receive the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update. However, rumors are doing the rounds that the Xperia Z1 and Z will get the latest Marshmallow update at a later date.

It is still not known whether the Xperia Z and Xperia Z1 will get the new update or not. According to some reports, these two devices may no longer be eligible for Android 6.0 Marshmallow updates now and that the tech company may decide to forget them and move on.

Android Pay, USB Type-C, System UI Tuner, Adoptive Storage, Now on Tap, Custom Google tabs, Improved Copy and Pasting and Clear permissions system are some of the new features of Android M, according to The Verge.
