BlackBerry Aurorahas been officially announced and it is available on pre-orders. It is touted for its advanced security features even though it lacks a biometric recognition feature.

BlackBerry Aurora, a new midrange smartphone has been unveiled and since it is launched in partnership with Indonesia's BB Merah Puith, the phone is targeted towards Indonesian users. It is priced at IDR 3,499,000 ($260) and is currently available on pre-orders with color choices like Black, Silver and Gold in the country.

The pre-ordered Aurora units will ship from March 13. Customers who order it until March 12 can get free items like JBL Bluetooth speaker and a flip case, Phone Radar reported.

A 5.5-inch HD resolution display is available on BlackBerry Aurora that is fueled by Snapdragon 425. Even though it is a midrange, its manufacturers opted to include a 4 GB RAM on it. It features a native storage of 32 GB storage and also houses a microSD card slot.

It is the first smartphone from the company to feature dual-SIM support. It carries support for 4G LTE connectivity. The press release of the phone states that BlackBerry Aurora running on Android 7.0 Nougat offers advanced security for its operating system and apps. Its security app can detect whether someone is surreptitiously accessing phone's features like camera or contacts. Even though its meant to provide its users with topnotch security, it lacks a fingerprint scanner, Gizmo China reported.

The LED flash enabled 13-megapixel rear camera is one of the USPs of the phone. It features electronic aperture controls. The camera app with its manual settings can assist in shooting impressive photos. It is fitted with a fixed focus frontal camera of 8-megapixel. The Aurora measures 152 x 76.6 x 8.5 mm and its weight is about 178 grams. It includes a 3,000 mAh battery.
