Microsoft did not release an official statement regarding the issue despite consumers needing answers in order to understand the problem. In the Skype Status Site, it said "We are currently working hard to resolve a problem, where users can not authenticate into Skype with their Microsoft accounts. We hope to restore the service as soon, as possible!"

Later during the day according to the ZDNet, a Microsoft spokesperson finally acknowledges the problem saying, the company engineers are working hard on fixing the problem. This includes restoring the customer's ability to log on their individual accounts.

The recent Microsoft Authentication Issue apparently locked out users and totally prevented them from accessing their accounts; a dangerous occurrence if Microsoft enforces hundred percent authentication.

The Inquirer on the other hand listed some of the Microsoft Authentication Issues met by some users. One said "I had just finished making some major changes to my account when it told me my account didn't exist. I was freaking out! Terrible timing MS..." Another user complained that they're unable to login to Xbox and when they visited the Microsoft website, everything seems to have been taken down.

The alarming Microsoft Authentication Issue brought in the experience Yahoo mail had some months ago. No reports on accounts being hacked so far, but it's a problem Microsoft needs to fixed immediately.

The issue may have not affected all regions, but certainly brought enough problem to regular users. Some regions still experience the problem and Microsoft has issued a statement saying, they will update ones everything is fixed.
