The LG G6 will be out in a few weeks, and according to reports, it is a smartphone to look out for. To get an idea, let's see how the LG newcomer will fare against the best 2016 smartphone at the 2017 Mobile World Congress - the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge.

LG unveiled the G6 at the MWC 2017 last month, and it is expected to be released in April. Samsung, on the other hand, released the Galaxy S7 Edge in March 2016. However, the specs on both smartphones are comparable.

The LG G6 comes with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 821, 32 GB of storage, 4 GB of RAM, and microSD support of up to 2 TB. It is also dust and water resistant with an IP68 rating, just like the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge. The G6 measures at 5.7 inches with a 1,440 x 2,880 resolution and 564 ppi. While it has a crisper display than the Galaxy S7 Edge, the latter comes with Super AMOLED technology and curved edges. The Galaxy S7 Edge features a Gorilla Glass 4 display while the G6 only has Gorilla Glass 3. The G6 will also come with a non-removable, 3,300 mAh battery, and run on the Android 7.0 Nougat. The G6 comes with a dual-camera setup of two 13 megapixels rear cameras and a 5 megapixels front snapper while the Galaxy S7 Edge only has a 12 megapixels rear camera and a 5 megapixels front shooter.

The Galaxy S7 Edge features a 5.5-inch screen with 32 GB or 64 GB in-built storage and 4 of RAM. It also has either a Samsung Exynos 8 octa 8890 or Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor with new features such as the "Always On" mode, a water resistant case and 3,600 mAh battery capacity. The Samsung S7 Edge comes in three variant colors for the 32 GB models and sports expandable storage options, enabling users to expand their 32 GB storage to up to 128 GB through a microSD card.

Several videos recently showed a Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge running Google Daydream VR, and these made non-Pixel users excited. The Galaxy S7 Edge is not Daydream-ready technically, but because of some developments, other devices may be able to use Daydream aside from Pixel. However, it is through unofficial means. For one, the Galaxy S7 Edge that can run the Google Daydream on the video is a Canadian variant powered by the Exynos 8890.

It's also worth mentioning that Samsung has previously launched the Android 7.0 Nougat Beta Program for the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge and it could have played a role in this development.
