The reimagined Nokia 3310 is tipped to launch to a rousing success real soon but HMD Global is not stopping with the retro feature phone push. In the next few months, two more Android-powered handsets bearing the iconic Nokia brand will hit the market and will boast of flagship build, specifications and features.

Picking up on the latest rumors from China, WCCFTech reported that HMD will release two smartphones in June and the devices could very well be any of the highly speculated Nokia P1 and Nokia 8. Described as metal-clad with supersized screen and dual camera features, the handsets will serve as HMD's answers to 2017 Android flagship bets like the LG G6 and Samsung Galaxy S8.

And like the GS8, the Nokia 2017 flagship phones will be powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 835 SoC and up to 6GB of RAM. WCCFTech said the RAM configurations will be in 4GB and 6GB with the latter likely ending up on the larger and more premium edition.

The report also indicated that Nokia's Android flagship phones will first hit the Chinese market but it remains unclear if HMD plans to also release the premium handsets in key markets around the world. No other specifications and feature upgrades have been mentioned so far but it is expected that Nokia's flagship bets will at least match the mobile device capabilities found on the competition.

It seems confirmed as well that like the Nokia 3, 5 and 6, the Nokia flagship phones will run on near Pure Android, thus making the two devices as chief rivals for Google's Pixel smartphones.

Obviously, HMD Global is riding high on the momentum generated by the Nokia 3310, which WCCFTech said in a separate report is fast gaining popularity even before the actual launch. In the United Kingdom, in fact, the 3310, which boasts of one-month standby battery and 22 hours of talk time, is proving to be more in demand that the LG G6 and Sony's Xperia XZ Premium.

Yet how exactly the resurrected Nokia will perform in the middle of Apple and Samsung's dominance is still a big question mark. As noted in the same report. HMD will have to contend with the logistical might and resources behind the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S8 (as well as the rumored Galaxy Note 8 later in 2017) and the iPhone 8 from Apple.
