Android 7.0 Nougat: OS Update Rollout for Samsung Galaxy S6/S6 Edge, Moto G4/G4 Plus and LG V10 & G4 Not Starting Until Late March

Jumping to Android 7.0 Nougat remains a generally slow process even for flagship smartphone models in the platform with brands like Samsung, LG and Motorola still unable to get the latest Android build. In fact, there will be further delays for the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge, the Moto G4 and G4 Plus and LG's V10 and G4.

In a report, WCCFTech said Verizon is now rolling out the Nougat bump for the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge but the same good news will not apply to the slightly older Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge. The same report indicated that Samsung has postponed the 7.0 Nougat update for the handsets in order to implement "quality review," of the mobile operating system.

That means Samsung has halted to the Nougat update process to make sure that the OS is free of any issues that apparently software engineers have detected at the last minute. The same report did not say when the rollout resumption will be though Samsung has pledged to redeploy "at the earliest opportunity."

Delays also plagued the planned upgrade to Nougat of the LG V10 and LG G4. But as noted in the same WCCFTech report, the pushback is rather welcomed by device owners as originally the two handset models were supposed to skip Android 7.0 but thanks to LG the aging devices will eventually get a taste of how sweet Nougat is going to be.

Nougat update for the LG G4 will not happen until June this year, the report said, adding that the V10, on the other hand, will be a bit luckier. The device is scheduled to chew in Google's latest mobile OS no later than May 2017 with the possibility of accessing the update as early as this month.

But for sure, both the Moto G4 and Moto G4 Plus will be on Nougat by the end March, WCCFTech reported. Already, the two Motorola devices, which run on nearly Pure Android render, are in 7.0 Nougat soak test phase, which is a clear indicator that the OS upgrade is timed to happen before the month's end.
