Meanwhile, Attack of the Fanboy reported that the "Final Fantasy XV" game easily surpassed the target number of sales upon its release. During its release date it was confirmed that the total sales is enough to cover the development cost of the game. Tabata then remembered the time he had a conversation with the former director of the game, wherein they discussed the current situation of the game.

While Hajime Tabata doubted that the series is actually in danger of being cut off, the confirmation came from Square Enix's head of sales when he confirmed the series forecast is not looking positive. Carrying the burden of making the "Final Fantasy XV" a hit, Tabata said he immediately set the standard bar at a higher level asking the team to strive for 6 million sales instead of the minimum 5 million.

Meanwhile, the PlayStation LifeStyle revealed that "Final Fantasy XV" is creator Hironobu Sakaguchi ultimatum to Tabata saying, the game is their last chance to prove it is worth the retention. Currently, the game has surpassed Tabata's 6 million projection; an initial number he gave to the whole team in order to inspire them to work harder in the development of the game.
