One of most important thing to do to have a good rest is to sleep. However, sleeping more than nine hours may indicate Alzheimer's disease. Also, it is also an early warning sign of an increased risk of dementia.

Loss of memory and other mental abilities that may affect a person's daily life is called dementia. The patient loses the ability to think properly due to physical changes in the brain. Alzheimer's disease is one of the most common types of dementia, which covers 60-80 percent cases.

In a journal published in Neurology, Matthew Pase from Boston University School of Medicine and his colleagues concluded that prolonged sleep or more than 9 hours of sleep can be an early marker of neurodegeneration. This could be used as a clinical tool to detect the risk of developing dementia within ten years.

There are also other warnings that may be a sign of dementia. People who have sudden behavior and personality changes may be displaying signs of chronic brain disorder or dementia. Experts from Canada have found a new cognitive syndrome called mild behavioral impairment which indicates dementia such as Alzheimer's disease.

Another sign that may indicate dementia is experiencing delirium after surgery. This is due to long-term cognitive decline. This is a common condition among older patients yet very dangerous and often deadly.

Rosacea is a skin disease, and an indication of an increased the risk of dementia. Dementia and rosacea are related among Danish citizen, according to the study of Dr. Alexander Egeberg from the University of Copenhagen. Patients who have been diagnosed by hospital dermatologist due to rosacea have a 42 percent of chance of developing dementia.
