Amit Singhal, SVP, Search, Google - The Story of Search

Uber's SVP of engineering Amit Singhal steps down from his position after it was discovered, he left Google over allegations of sexual harassment. Uber CEO Travis Kalanick has since asked Singhal to step down from his position. Singhal claims that the allegation is still on dispute despite Google confirming that the result of an internal investigation proved to be credible.

On Monday, Amit Singhal ended his short stint on car hailing company Uber following the news break on the scandal. He spent 15 years of his career in Google prior to getting fired after the sexual harassment issue. Uber's reason for firing Singhal is his apparent non claiming of the issue despite extensive background investigation prior to joining Uber.

Singhal claims his innocence over the issue and written on his statement said "Harassment is unacceptable in any setting. I certainly want everyone to know that I do not condone and have not committed such behavior. In my 20-year career, I've never been accused of anything like this before and the decision to leave Google was my own."

A spokesperson representing Singhal said, the former Uber SVP of engineering has not denied the allegations, but consistently denied they were true. Amit Singhal ended his statement saying he wants to spend more time with his family specially her wife and son who will enter college soon.

The Business Insider said that, Singhal's case was opened amid Uber's investigation on its own sexual harassment issues brought to light by its former engineer Susan Fowler. Meanwhile, aside from the sexual harassment haunting both companies, Google is suing Uber over alleged stealing of key self-driving technology.
