"Pokemon Go" has now been downloaded over 650 million times.

"Pokémon Go" was released to mixed reviews, with critics praising the game's concept as an incentive to be more active in the real world while criticizing the frequent technical issues it has faced. Despite such reviews, the game became a global phenomenon and was one of the most profitable mobile apps in 2016

"Pokemon Go" has reached 650 million downloads. Developer Niantic Labs announced the figure during the Game Developers Conference on Tuesday in San Francisco, according to Polygon. That figure suggests the "Pokémon Go" craze has subsided somewhat. Niantic announced in early September, less than two months after the game's debut, that it had racked up more than 500 million downloads.

Sales aside, it is still business as usual for Niantic Labs. The studio recently launched a major update that added more than 80 new Pokemon for trainers to capture in "Pokemon Go." It led to "Pokemon Go" almost immediately jumping back into the number one position on Apple's Top Grossing chart. While this was only a temporary, it shows that "Pokemon Go" has got legs.

Phil Keslin, in between dropping interesting statistics at GDC, also promised that Niantic would continue to work hard. "Pokemon Go" players can continue to expect regular content updates in the foreseeable future.
