Two private individuals will be exploring the moon at their own expense, according to SpaceX CEO Elon Musk. 

The tentative date of launching will be in 2018 and the Falcon Heavy rocket is expected to be used.

About 45 years ago when the last Apollo moon mission took place, the first astronauts who reached the moon were experienced military fliers, according to Los Angeles Times.

Musk gave some details about the moon mission. However, he did not confirm the identities of the two private individuals as well as how much they have paid for the company. However, he said that these people know each other and they are very eager about the expedition. Another thing is that, they are not from Hollywood.

In fact, The Guardian reported that the two started their inquiries with SpaceX late last year and they have put down their deposits. They will now start fitness tests and appropriate training.  

Furthermore, Musk said that they will just circle the moon, but they will not land on its surface. The private astronauts will travel about 300,000 to 400,000 miles into the space. This means that it will be the farthest flight that humans will ever make.

If the trip is successful, it will take the astronauts a week to circle the moon.
