There's a lot of brim about Nintendo's Console after being released just weeks away. The Switch also known as NX for a long time is Nintendo's next hope for success on the console market after the soft sales of the Wii U.

There were buzzes during that time that Nintendo was working on a hybrid console and that is indeed what Nintendo delivered with the debut of its newest console. However, it has been discovered that Sony filed a patent for a handheld console that is very similar to the design of the Nintendo Switch.

Like Nintendo Switch, the device looks very much like a tablet with two controller halves on either side, but instead of Joy-Cons flanking the screen, the half-controllers on either side of the device look like the handles on a DualShock 4.

The patent was filed back in 2015 but was just only recently published, as spotted by NeoGAF. While the controller pieces on the side look as though they may be detachable, they aren't explicitly shown as being removable from the device. This patent is likely a result of Sony looking into a successor to the PlayStation Vita, but again, doesn't mean Sony is looking to make an investment into the handheld market again.

But Nintendo is poised to launch the Switch in just a few weeks no matter what comes out of this, and surely the whole gaming industry will be watching to see how players react to the new console. Nintendo Switch launches on March 3.
