Zhejiang province of China could have been a real-life Jurassic Park as scientists have discovered 82 dinosaur fossil sites in the region.

While the Mesozoic era has been thought of by many as a rare possibility, a new finding appears to have debunked this. The dinosaur-filled field has been a popular scenario, but only in Hollywood movies.

Zhejiang province of China could have been a real-life Jurassic Park as scientists have discovered 82 dinosaur fossil sites in the region. These humungous prehistoric animals could be 65 and 145 million years old.

More than six dinosaur species and 25 types of fossil dinosaur eggs have been found at the site. This has been confirmed by experts from the Zhejiang Institute of Hydrogeology and Engineering Geology and Zhejiang Museum of Natural History in China between 2006 until 2013.

"It has been proved that a large quantity of dinosaurs lived in Zhejiang during the Cretaceous period, about 65 million to 145 million years ago," Zhejiang Museum of Natural History deputy curator Jin Xingsheng said. "Compared with other southeastern provinces, Zhejiang has the largest amount of dinosaur fossils."

The study of China's Jurassic Park was done within an area of 11,000 square kilometers. This paved the way for the discovery of eight new species.

Researchers say a catastrophe that took place during the latter part of the Cretaceous period might have ended the lives of these gigantic animals. Scientists believe that an asteroid could have caused the end of their existence.
