Apple is currently working on its latest mobile device which is set to be released to mark the upcoming 10th year anniversary of iPhone. There are reports that Apple's latest device will come with a spectacular design and a tag price to match that.

One of the iPhone's trademark feature is the Touch ID fingerprint recognition which protects users from being hacked. However, Apple is making a great progress creating a more reliable security by replacing the Touch ID with a facial recognition technology.

According to Forbes, the Touch ID will not be present in the upcoming iPhone. Instead, users will benefit from the front-facing 3D laser scanner for facial recognition. The facial recognition system is reported to be more secure. This feature is more desirable by banks as mobile payment services are now expanding.

Although the facial recognition system is more secure, it has several disadvantages. One problem is that the user will have to hold the phone up to his/her face, which can be inconvenient, especially if the user is on the go. People who wear glasses, contact lenses or sunglasses may have a problem with the facial recognition system.

However, Apple is confident that the facial recognition technology is just the beginning of the company's long-term plans and vision for the iPhone series. One future use of the facial recognition is the integration of AR/VR experience.

According to MacRumors, the iPhone 8 will have a glass body and potentially an edge-to-edge OLED display. It will also support wireless charging.

The pricing of the iPhone 8 will reportedly start at $1,000.
