Tech giant Microsoft recently announced the newest batch of Xbox 360 titles that will be added to the list of games with backwards-compatibility support.

Headlining the batch is sought after titles like "The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings" and "Counter Strik: Global Offensive." The list also include "Sam and Max Save the World," "Age of Booty," "Aegis Wing," "Soulcalibur," "Space Giraffe," "Small Arms," "Skullgirls," and "Jeremy McGrath's Offroad."

For those who have yet to play the "The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings" title, it is currently available for free download on Xbox's official website. The free download offer is available for Xbox One and Xbox 360 owners in the United States, United Kingdom, France, Germany and Canada. The free download promo will last until Feb. 5.

Microsoft has yet to confirm whether the free download promotion will be available in other regions.

Aside from the new list of backwards-compatible games, Microsoft is also changing the way it launches these titles. In a statement posted on Xbox Wire, Microsoft said, "Starting today, we'll release titles as they become available, rather than a set monthly launch date. What this means for you is that you won't have to wait to find out those latest titles: we'll release whatever is available, when they're available, once each title has received the engineering and publisher stamp of approval."

The decision to change the way it releases backwards-compatible games was based on popular demands coming from gamers. Tech analysts say that Microsoft is really taking time to listen to its users, a practice that will be essential in the future success of its console.

Microsoft is also launching a dedicated webpage for Xbox One Backwards Compatibility on Xbox Wire. The webpage will feature contents such as regular roundup of games as well as spotlight stories on some selected titles.

Microsoft is still encouraging gamers to vote for their favorite Xbox games to be ported on the Xbox One console.

According to PC Mag, Microsoft claims that since the first batch of backwards-compatible games were released in November 2015, Xbox gamers have accumulated more than 21 million hours of combined game time of these games on the Xbox One console.
