Among the new Pokemon you can find in "Pokemon Sun and Moon" is the Alolan versions of Ninetails and Sandshrew which are both ice types unlike the regular versions of fire and ground types. Here are some tips on how you can get them.

First thing to do is to decide whether you want a Vulpix or a Sandshrew, as these Pokemon are version exclusives. Vulpix is available in "Pokemon Sun" while Sanshrew is available in "Pokemon Moon." Then proceed to your game. It needs quite some time before you catch your very own Vulpix. It can be found north of Route 14 on Ula'ula Island at Mount Lanakila. But that area of the map is under construction, and will only be accessible later in the game.

So the main element is to wait. After clearing the last Trial, you can now take the elevator up. By the time you are there, look into the grass and a Vulpix will show up for you to catch.

You can find as many Vupix as you want from here on out since the Pokemon is common after unlocking the last Trial in "Pokemon Sun and Moon." The same steps goes for Sandshrew, just that you need to play with "Pokemon Moon" instead of "Pokemon Sun."

The next step is to evolve Vulpix or Sandshrew. You can evolve them by using an Ice Stone. A Vulpix is pure ice type, while an Alolan Ninetails is ice and fairy type. Sandshrew is also pure ice, while it becomes an ice-steel type when evolved by also using an Ice Stone.

An Ice Stone can be purchased at Olivia's Shop in Konikoni City. Or you may find some in Isle Aphun or Po Town. If you want to have both Sandshrew and Vulpix, the basic thing to do is to trade them between two different versions of "Pokemon Sun and Moon."
