Apple is definitely up to something for the next few highly-anticipated iPhone releases -- and it's what many have predicted.

After deciding to go cordless with earphones, the tech giant is reportedly planning to feature wireless charging with all future iPhones, this according to a Thursday report by a reliable leak source, KGI Securities.

This innovation basically suggests that users of the anticipated iPhone 8 (or iPhone X, as dubbed by many fans) would be charging "over-the-air," without being directly connected to anything by a wire or cord.

However, going wireless is not always a safe innovation. According to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo from MacRumors, wireless charging would further increase a phone's internal temperature. This would mean Apple has invested on the development of a new hardware component to keep the phone from overheating - or, err, exploding.

Kuo adds that the new hardware component probably wouldn't affect user experience, but will however increase the cost of production by at least $5 per phone. It may seem insignificant, but a recent report claims the next iPhone could cost more than $1000 because of hardware upgrades.

With the release of the AirPods (wireless earphones) last fall, they've already made it pretty clear that they're going for a better, wireless future for all their patrons. Guess we'll only have to hope and wait until September when we're due to find out whether or not this wireless surprise is indeed coming.
