In another attempt to make its app a fixed part of our daily lives, Facebook has added yet another useful feature.

Mark Zuckerberg's multi-billion dollar brainchild now comes with a built-in weather app that can be viewed on both desktop and mobile. This comes almost a year after Facebook started offering weather "greetings" within the app.

The latest update will be widely available in March. For the lucky few who can view it early, it is in the "More" menu in the upper right corner of the app and listed under "Apps" or both Android and iOS users.

The mini app shows an hour-by-hour weather forecast and a simplified forecast for the next five days. As with other in-phone weather apps, you can add custom locations and switch from Celsius to Fahrenheit. However, the Facebook weather app will only work if your location settings are turned on.

IBM's Weather.com helps bring this latest innovation to the widely-used app. A more detailed location-based forecast is available on the "See More Weather Info" link at the bottom.

A company spokesperson recently told Mashable that the app would soon be more exposed and placed on top of our News Feeds on both desktop and mobile. She also revealed that the update is part of the company's ongoing Facebook Goodwill initiative.

"We are doing this because our goal is to develop products that connect people to the things they care about most and create moments of joy in people's day, like simply telling you that it's going to rain later," the spokesperson said.
