Lady Gaga made quite a statement during her much-awaited Super Bowl LI halftime performance at the NRG Stadium in Houston on Sunday.

After opening with "God Bless America" and transitioning to Woody Guthrie's 1944 song "This Land Is Yours" in protest against US President Trump, she stood on the roof with over a hundred Intel drones started dancing in the sky behind her like glitter -- in true Lady Gaga fashion.

While the drone display was dazzling to watch, but that wasn't all. As Lady Gaga closed her opening number, the drones formed the American flag to the amazement of the crowd.

"One nation under God, indivisible with liberty and justice for all," Lady Gaga said, before finally jumping off the roof and descending to the stage.

There had been reports that "hundreds" of drones would be part of the outrageous pop star's performance, but little did we know that she would use it to send a strong and creative message of patriotism.

The stunt came at the right time, especially with Trump's supporters and detractors threatening to divide America.

The stage gimmick was not unexpected, considering that Lady Gaga has pulled off many other publicities to make her stand various national and social issues including LGBT rights.

It looks like we'll now be seeing a lot of drones incorporated in musical performances in the future.
