Board examiners of several US states banned the use of Apple's new MacBook Pro with Touch Bar to prevent aspiring lawyers from cheating the bar exam.

Several bar associations in the US will prohibit the use of MacBook Pro's with Touch Bar starting next month to avoid compromising the integrity of the bar exam.

The ban comes after a software firm exposed how the MacBook Pro's Touch Bar could reportedly be used by aspiring lawyers to cheat on their exams by using the laptop's advanced predictive text function feature, according to The International Business Times.

Last week, digital bar exam test maker ExamSoft released a guideline on how to turn off the Touch Bar feature.

"Exam Administrators will want to ensure that the newest feature included with some MacBook Pro's is disabled before a student begins their exam," the page wrote. "By default, the Touch Bar will show predictive text depending on what the student is typing, compromising exam integrity."

In light of ExamSoft's warning, several states have taken measures to ensure that the bar exam is conducted fairly. For instance, North Carolina will allow test takers to use their MacBook Pro as long as they can show proof that the Touch Bar feature has been disabled. A proctor or an ExamSoft technician will check the MacBooks before the start of the exam.

The New York and Colorado board examiners, on the other hand, will totally ban the device. But test takers will be allowed to download a new copy of the ExamSoft to another computer, granting they will do this in advance. Otherwise, they will be asked to handwrite their answers to essay questions as there will be no exta computers available on site.

The states of California, Tennessee, Maine, Maryland, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, and Texas have also banned the use of the new MacBook Pro equipped with the Touch Bar technology, the Extreme Tech reported citing Katherine Silver Kelly of Exam Wizard.

Since the use of the MacBook Pro varies in different states, The Next Web advised all test takers to check on the website of their respective board of examiners for updated announcements.

Apple did not immediately give its comment about the issue, Fortune noted.
