Apple has been the biggest mobile company ever since the iPhone was launched a decade ago. However, in 2016, the Cupertino-based tech giant's annual profit fell for the first time in 14 years. But the Mac could save Apple.

In 2015, Apple's sales skyrocketed with the launch of the iPhone 6s, making the Cupertino-based tech giant the richest company in history. Apple started as a computer company, not a mobile phone maker.

Before the iPhone, Apple made a name for itself with the Mac. The personal computer was invented by Steve Jobs decades ago back in Silicon Valley. It was among the first devices to make use of GUI (Graphics User Design).

With the launch of the first Mac computer, Apple became established in the world of Information Technology. Soon after, other tech firms adopted the GUI system like Microsoft's Windows OS. However, today Apple can be barely recognized as a "computer company," but rather as a "phone company."

Many blame Tim Cook for this. Cook's management style has often been criticized and compared to Steve Jobs'. Jobs was an innovator. By introducing the iPod, he made Apple a "music company." However, the iPhone, MacBook, iMac, iPad, and Apple Watch soon followed, making Apple as "a dynamic change maker," according to Bob Burrough, a former Apple engineer who served under Steve Jobs and Tim Cook.

Cook is different. He has focused mostly on the iPhone, leaving little room for the improvement of other products like the iPad, iMac, and MacBook.

Nonetheless, some experts believe that if Tim Cook reintroduces Apple as a "computer company," possibly reviving the original "Mac" in the process, the company could become a "dynamic change maker" once again.
