Google Voice has not been updated since it received its MMS feature. However, Google has hinted to users that a major update will be coming soon, as the banner at the top of a Google Voice app says "The New Google Voice is here."

The app was believed to have been overlooked for a period. The last known minor changes were the integration with Hangouts and the cleaned up voice transcriptions in 2015. The last major change happened in 2014 where the MMS feature was added to its core service.

Now, Google is teasing users that the app will undergo a major change. The clickable "try now" link for "The New Google Voice is here" teaser redirects users to a link address: https://www.google.com/voice/b/0/redirection/new.

However, the website didn't have anything to offer.

However, in an exclusive message to The Verge, Google stated that: "Sorry, it looks like we must have dialed the wrong number! But don't worry, this wasn't a prank call. We're working on some updates to Google Voice right now. We have you on speed dial and we'll be sure to share what we've been up to just as soon as we can."

The next Google Voice update might have something to do with Allo and Duo - other messaging apps from Google. Users want to see a visual overhaul of the app and its corresponding website, Engadget reported.
