There are several rumors about the upcoming Apple iPhone 8, codenamed Ferraru. Analysts are predicting that the iPhone 8 could bring a fortune to the Cupertino tech giant. Experts forecast that the iPhone 8 could propel Apple's revenue with record sales of 86 million units in the forth quarter of 2017.

"Consensus calls for 80 million iPhones in F1Q18 (Dec '17) ... only modestly above the iPhone 6 supercycle (75 million). However, we estimate the iPhone 8 will launch into an iOS subscriber base 45-50% larger than the iPhone 6 did and model 86 million iPhones in F1Q18 (from 83 million)," noted Nomura Securities analysts Jeffrey Kvaal and Gregory McNaff.

This is based on the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus' market response as the first 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch smartphones. The number of iOS subscriber base will also fuel the sales of the iPhone 8.

The iPhone 8 could feature edgeless display, glass body with no physical button, and a curved screen to rival the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge. It could also come with wireless battery charging support. Apple could launch three versions of the iPhone; two 4.7-inch models with TFT-LCD screens and a 5.5-inch model with an OLED screen.

There have been some complaints that the iPhone 7 is too similar to its predecessor. However, a new patent has revealed that Apple may launch an interesting iPhone in the future. The US Patent and Trademark Office has granted a patent to the Cupertino tech giant for a foldable and bendable iPhone.

According to Patently Apple, the design has been in Apple's plans for quite a while since the company applied for the patent titled "Electronic devices with carbon nanotube printed circuits" in 2014. While a foldable iPhone sounds fun, it is unknown whether it would become a reality soon.

The new patent was granted after the company registered for it in August. Apple was able to keep the filing process a secret because it reportedly used an engineer's name instead of the company's.

The new patent gave details abut the materials that could be used for the future iPhone's housing. Its framework could be made of ceramic, aluminum, plastic or glass. These materials were used in the present model as well. However, the highlight of the patent is the use of carbon nanotubes which will allow the iPhone to be folded.
