Nvidia recently announced a new version of the company's Shield TV home streaming box. Nvidia said that the updated version of the Shield TV will sport a new design and will support 4K HDR streaming. The device comes with a remote and game controller.

Nvidia claims that the new version of the Shield TV is three times more powerful compared to other streaming boxes currently available on the market. The Nvidia Shield runs on the Android TV platform and can stream 4K content from Vudu, Netflix, and Google Play Movies.

Nvidia also added support for 4K HDR content from Amazon Video, a feature which is somewhat rare for most steaming boxes that run on Android TV. Nvidia said that existing Shield TV owners would get the new features sometime in January through a software update.

Aside from Amazon Video, the new Shield TV will also support Google Assistant for voice control, according to Engadget. Nvidia is selling a separate peripheral microphone called Nvidia Spot, which can be placed anyway at home to receive voice commands.

Nvidia has been marketing the Shield TV as more than just a piece of streaming video box. In fact, the new model supports thousands of video game titles, including "For Honor," "Assassin's Creed Syndicate," and "Watch Dogs 2." Nvidia said that future games from prominent developer Ubisoft would be released simultaneously to the Shield TV and the PC platform. Nvidia has also released a Steam app on Google Play Store that allows gamers to directly stream games in 4K HDR format directly to their TVs, according to The Verge.

The Nvidia Shield TV is now available for pre-order for $199.99, with the first shipments expected to be rolled out in February. Nvidia is planning to unveil an upgraded version called Shield Pro later this month, and it includes a remote with a headphone jack and 500GB of storage space.
