Twitter continues to experience an exodus of its high-level executives. The company's chief technology officer Adam Messinger announced his departure in a Twitter message on Tuesday. Twitter's vice president of production Josh McFarland is also stepping down to join venture capital firm Greylock Partners.

Messinger did not elaborate on his next move. He had previously worked as vice president of development at Oracle. The microblogging company has seen a number of its executives leave this year. Last month, Twitter COO Adam Bain left the company. He was replaced by Anthony Noto, who was previously working as the CFO of the company.

Messinger will be replaced by Edward Ho, who will take on his engineering duties as general manager. Ho will report directly to Jack Dorsey. The company CEO released a statement saying, "I'll be working even closer with our engineering and design teams to ensure we continue to be the fastest and best service to show what's happening in the world."

McFarland joined the firm in 2015 when his company TellApart was acquired by Twitter in a deal valued at a close to $500 million. He was mainly entrusted with the task of overseeing advertising product development. It is likely that his departure may lead to the expansion of roles for Keith Coleman, the founder of Yes Inc.

Twitter is said to be exploring various strategic options including the option to sell itself. Initially, several companies showed interest in acquiring Twitter. However, interest in the company waned as contenders such as Salesforce have slowly backed out.

The company has reported a slight increase in its revenue. However, it continues to struggle with overall growth. Earlier this year, Twitter announced that it is slashing nine percent of its headcount to improve the growth trajectory of the firm. The company is also dealing with management issues as well as with regulatory concerns. Twitter recently shut down its popular video service Vine.
