The newly launched Bluetooth 5.0 will be installed on Samsung Galaxy S8 units which will be unveiled to the public early next year.

There are speculations that Samsung's upcoming smartphone will be a triple handset series. The company will integrate the latest Bluetooth technology with S8. Andrew Zignani of ABI Research said that the introduction of version 5 would open more doors to developing and advancing the Internet of Things market through the reduction of cost and flexibility.

One reason why Bluetooth 5.0 is expected to be installed on the S8 model is Samsung's plan to follow Apple's trend of getting rid off the headphone jack from its handsets thus requiring faster and stronger connectivity. Bluetooth Special Interest Group (SIG) said that "key updates to Bluetooth 5 include longer range, faster speed, and larger broadcast message capacity, as well as improved interoperability and coexistence with other wireless technologies."

The developer added that "key feature updates include four rimes range, two times speed, and eight times broadcast message capacity. Longer range powers whole home and building coverage, for more robust and reliable connections. Higher speed enables more responsive, high-performance devices. Increased broadcast message size increases the data sent for improved and more context relevant solutions."

Meanwhile, the bezel-less S8 will carry the Y-OCTA display that includes touch sensors. Aside from chopped-off headphone jack, the model will also have no home button. It will also have the waterproof and scratchproof Natural ID FS9100 optical fingerprint sensor developed by Synaptics. There will be two size options; a 5.7-inch and 6.2-inch variant. The device will come with 6GB of RAM, 10nm Qualcomm Snapdragon 835, and a 4200mAh battery. Users can also expect an AI assistant named Bixby and an iris scanner.

The Samsung Galaxy S8 reportedly will be unveiled in February during the Mobile World Congress but it will go on sale in March.
