"Plants vs. Zombies Garden Warfare 2" is already out on beta.

There has been quite a buzz about "Plants vs. Zombies Garden Warfare 2." Now, there is even more so thanks to the release and availability of the beta version of the game.

The sequel to the well-received and much-celebrated "Plants vs. Zombies Garden Warfare" has added more locations, weapons and characters to make this new run even more exciting. Electronic Arts' newest shooter title sees Dr. Zomboss strengthening his horde to create a more formidable utopia for his zombies.

For this new title, there are six additional plants to battle with the zombies. This is crucial, seeing as how Dr. Zomboss has already won the battle. Plants are now tasked to do the attacking to take back some territory, Forbes reported. Some of the new plants include the Citron, Rose, and Kernel Corn. Citron and Kernel are good for an offensive and defensive stance. Kernel has powerful offensive rate thanks to its rapid fire. Citron, while also providing a good laser attack, also has a good defense capability.

Three new zombies are also coming with "Plants vs. Zombies Garden Warfare 2." The well-known Imp from previous "PvZ" games is now coming. For this round, it will bear a gun as well as its fast and agile ability. He also has a special state that lets him become the Z-Mech capable of wielding and firing missiles to defeat a horde of plants.

There's also Super Brainz, which can turn into a tornado of fists, which can also be used for a multiple attack in a crowd of enemies. The final additional zombie is Captain Deadbeard, a zombie that has a wider range of attacks for both short and long distances.

The new feature Backyard Battleground is a great hub for players to lounge about and explore new activities. While it is essentially a game menu system for easy access of the different areas, US Gamer noted that the Backyard Battleground is also customizable.

Players can invite other fellow "Plants vs. Zombies Garden Warfare 2" players to visit and see unlocked characters. The Backyard Battleground also allows a mini match that lets players face off against waves of AI opponents. The battleground name serves a purpose, in that the location has two areas, one for zombies and the other for plants. In the middle is a free-for-all place where fights occur against the opposite team.

As far as competitive titles go, this is one of the more action-packed of the choices. There are new modes like the Herbal Assault and Gardens and Graveyards.

"Plants vs. Zombies Garden Warfare 2" will be released on the PS4 and Xbox One. The release date for the full game is on Feb. 23.
