Lucid Motors announced at a recent press conference that it would start building a manufacturing facility in 2017. Although the company's facility will be situated in Casa Grande, Arizona, its headquarters will remain in San Francisco.

The new manufacturing facility will create new job opportunities. According to Tech Crunch, Arizona Governor Doug said that the facility would bring in 2,000 new jobs to Arizona and up to $700 million worth of investments by the year 2022. Some of the components needed to build cars will be coming from the nearby Mexican state of Sonora.

Lucid Motors director of global manufacturing, Brian Barron, said that the company would begin hiring employees for the new facility as early as next year. Barron, who is a Navy veteran, said that Lucid Motors is committed to admitting and hiring Americian military veterans for various positions in the company.

Lucid Motors is looking to manufacture a car that can produce up to 1,000 horsepower. Another model is said to have enough power to cover up to 400 miles on electric power. Given the current popularity of self-driving cars, Lucid Motors said that some of its car models would have autonomous driving capabilities as well.

In a statement acquired by Forbes, Lucid Motors chief technology officer, Peter Rawlinson, said, "What we have is a new type of luxury car. It's the size of an Audi A6, it's as cool as an A7, has the interior space of an Audi A8 longwheel-base, and the performance of a Bugatti Veyron. No one's done that."

Hopes are high for the Lucid Motors. The company has been able to snatch a handful of veteran engineers and designers from industry leaders, including a former Tesla engineer who played a vital role in creating the famed Model S.
