The United Kingdom has up with a project to create green energy and develop a pollution free and eco-friendly society. As part of the project, a technology hub has been created at Manchester Metropolitan University, which is a leading center of science and technology research.

The fuel cell innovation center at the university would create hydrogen-based fuel cells, which would power cars and homes, and create technology that would lead to a greener Earth. The center has received $1.2 million from the European Regional Development Fund to buy state of the art equipment and support research and innovation into creating energy through fuel cells.

The research and development center would develop high-tech fuel cells, which convert hydrogen to water and oxygen to produce electricity that would power cars and transport besides lighting up homes and buildings. The benefit of green energy is that it is emission free and hence cars would not be polluting the road, air, and general environment.

Manchester Metropolitan University was chosen for the project as it is a leading name in technology universities and has expertise in advanced materials, nanotechnology, and grid technology. There have been similar government-backed hydrogen fuel cell projects in countries like Japan, the United States, and Germany.

In the UK, most cars on the roads currently run on conventional fuel like petroleum and diesel which emit carbon-di-oxide and pollute the environment. Electricity-based fuel would lead to a new generation of cars that would be emission free. The green tech energy hub is expected to lead the efforts to create a pollution-free world.
