Tech giant Apple has announced that it will provide free battery replacements for all iPhone 6s devices that are experiencing sudden shut down problems. Apple added that this service would be available to all affected consumers worldwide.

Apple's decision was announced on Sunday, almost a week after a Chinese consumer protection group said that it had received reports of some iPhone 6s devices spontaneously shutting down even if there is more than half of battery power remaining. About three years ago, some Apple users complained about the same problem, compelled the company to offer a free battery replacement program.

Apple said that only battery replacements would be for free. However, other issues not related to the problem will have its associated cost.

In a statement acquired by Fortune, Apple said, "If your iPhone 6s has any damaged such as screen which impairs the replacement of battery, that issue will need to be resolved prior to battery replacement."

It appears that high-end smartphone models are experiencing major problems with regards to their battery packs. Apple's latest replacement program comes barely two months after South Korean tech giant Samsung recalled millions of Galaxy Note 7 devices after complaints of its battery pack catching fire due to unexplained reasons.

Apple said that the problem affects only a limited number of iPhone 6s devices. The company added that devices, which were manufactured between September and October 2015, are the ones mostly affected, according to The Wall Street Journal.

Despite Apple's effort to contain the problem, the company's decision to replace the battery packs has raised some questions.

Apple iPhone 6s users who do not know whether their devices are affected by the issue can contact Apple through its online portal. They can also visit an Apple store or authorized service provider to check whether their devices need a battery replacement.
