Intel's planned purchase of VOKE VR proves that it is serious about getting into the sports tech industry. The software giant has been strengthening its business with virtual reality.

Intel has not revealed the financial terms of the deal. But it was reported that the buyout would include the technology, business, and talents of VOKE. This will also cover the broadcast of the National Basketball Association games in the United States as well as the Kabaddi tournaments shown in India.

Intel will also insert VOKE into the Intel Sports Group division. The latter's products are considered TrueVR as it uses a special stereoscopic camera. The special product may also be used with different devices and channels.

James Carwana of Intel Sports Group described VOKE's technology as something that allows fans to be "where the action is without ever leaving their living rooms." With Intel's goal to become a large and prominent player in the sports market, it considers VR technology as an integral component in providing close-up visuals and focused action.

"We're making great progress bringing innovative technology and amazing experiences to the world of sports, but there's more to come," Carmawa added.

This is not the first time that Intel is making a foray into sports-related events and activities. The company had covered the NBA All-Star Weekend and X-Games and also bought the Replay Technologies this year.

Intel believes that the acquisition of VOKE can help in solving the gap in the sports field.
