Google has brought some improvements to the iOS Gmail application, adding in speed enhancements and a new look. Following Yahoo's recent Yahoo mail revamp, people are now debating on which of the two applications have better features.

After four years, Google has finally decided to redesign the Gmail app for the iPhone. Aside from the cosmetic touch-ups, the new app now features a sleeker transition that makes it better to use than its mobile website counterpart. The Tech Times reported that swiping to archives, and deleting messages also feels smoother compared to the Android version. Sorting through e-mails is also easier with an improved search function that gives spelling suggestions and instant results.

The biggest feature that Google has introduced in the new Gmail app for the iPhone is the "Undo Send" option. This new option slides up from the bottom after a user fires off an e-mail. This gives users a chance to recall the message. This feature is useful if one has to make last minute edits or realize that they did not want to send the e-mail at all.

But despite the neat improvements, Google has not added a unified inbox. This is one reason that made users compare the new Gmail app for the iPhone with Yahoo's Yahoo Mail app update. iTech Post reported that Yahoo's new Yahoo mail app update allows both iOS and Android users to add a personal touch to their inbox. It also has a similar "Undo Send" option for e-mail recall, but unlike the Gmail app, Yahoo's undo option appears at the bottom of the user's inbox feed for 3 seconds.

The new Gmail app for the iPhone is now available on the app store, while the Yahoo mail app is available on both the Apple Store and Android's Google Play Store.
