This is an obvious dilemma that comes up while deciding on your pick. Be a laptop or a tablet, both these genres have evolved like anything. With every new release, technology finds a way to succeed its epitome predecessor. Unlike smartphones, both tablets and laptops are designed for a wider range of multitasking and handling requirements. Choosing between both is essentially based on what you want to do with it.

Now let's find a solution to this question on a broader perspective, considering all the basic functionalities that you would look into. Laptops and tablets are both portable devices. But comparing the dimensions, 7-11 inch tabs are much easier to carry around than a 12-16 inch laptop. Performance is a department where most of us would not compromise. Laptops can pack more hardware in their larger cases compared to tablets, and hence, advanced performance.

Multitasking seems far more flawless on laptops, although tablets (like those running on iOS 9) these days come in embedded to handle multitasking. On the other hand, tablets will have better battery life than laptops due to their smaller size. Laptops have larger display but that doesn't mean they offer the better picture. Tablets usually score better on pixel per inch (ppi) density, averaging at 262 whereas tablets post an average of 176.

Laptops still leads the race when it comes to precision or the word processing capacity. The feel of a full sized keyboard can't be beaten even with detachable keyboards that come with some tablet manufactures. Versatile and performance demanding software like Photoshop are experienced better on a laptop. Certain tabs, such as Surface Pro 4 uses Windows 10, combines desktop and tablet experience. Such hybrid devices are excellent choice if you are looking for mix of desktop and apps.

So the verdict finally comes down to what and where you want to use it for. Tablets are awesome to use on the go, and with some extra cash, you can manage a great tablet; however, Laptops serves better for demanding tasks.

Hope that helped out!
