iPhone 8's production could be facing some hurdles as several reports indicate that Apple could push back its launching by up to three months to October or November.

The difficulties are reportedly on iPhone 8's new A11 processing chip and OLED screen.

"Apple's OLED model iPhone 8 volume shipments are likely to be delayed longer that we had previously expected," equity research company JL Warren Capital said in a reported published by Singapore's Smartkarma.

The report further said that sources from Taiwan confirmed that the latest build of the A11 wafer failed to pass the third round of testing. The next A11 wafer production re-qualification test not expected until this week with the results slated to come by the second week of next month.

If such rumor is true, then this could significantly delay the chips' mass production plan on June 10, China Post reported.

Meanwhile, DigiTimes also cited an industry source with knowledge about the matter as saying that Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co.'s 10-nanometer A11 chips could be delivered in bulk to Foxconn, Apple's assembly partner, by the second half of July.

Aside from its chips, Apple is also reportedly dealing with problems involving the iPhone 8's displays. Apple's manufacturing partners are allegedly having a hard time integrating its Touch ID fingerprint-detection technology into the OLED screen, analyst Timothy Arcuri from Cowen & Co. said. The iPhone 8 is expected to ditch the physical home button and flaunt a borderless 5.8-inch OLED display.

"Mass assembly schedule of this OLED version might be delayed to October or early November vs. the normal late July/August time frame, and this would effectively delay shipment and product launch," Arcuri said.

Nevertheless, Arcuri said that any delays would only cause postponement of sales as he is confident that iPhone 8 buyers would be willing to wait. The "powder keg" of iPhone 8 sales will also be moved to the December quarter.
