Upcoming "League of Legends" update will likely involve a new set of unique characters. Such characters will accordingly be distinct, for they will mirror current individuals and situation of the society.

There has been a slight commotion online concerning the possible character updates "LoL." Some online gamers tried to question the vision of game design/director Greg Street to somehow mirror the current world situation by suggesting the introduction of "openly gay characters."

Some "League of Legends" gamers tend to criticize the move of Street as it would somehow reflect the increasing pressure of liberal politics as it tries to introduce its ideas into an average gamer's consciousness, as discussed by Polygon. With such potential changes to the game, some players see it as liberal influence "forcing its way into games."

Despite the feedbacks online, Street is quite convinced that being unable to mirror or acknowledge portion of real life situation and the vast realities of fictional game characters are quite unusual. Having such conviction, one might quickly comment that Street's aim would somehow deviate from one of the game's primary goal, which is to allow gamers to escape reality for a while.

"For some players (like me), it seems really weird when a game doesn't acknowledge that the real world of other gamers or the fictional world of game characters are diverse places with different religions, genders, skin colors, and economic statuses. Having an openly gay character or punishing a player for calling another player a racial slur doesn't feel political to me. It's just a reflection of Earth circa 2017," Pink News quoted Street as saying.

Despite all the comments online, Street is highly convinced that concerns for liberal proselytization will only be determined if a ""loses its way and starts focusing too much on social messages at the expense of gameplay." Therefore, suggesting that critics should wait for such scenarios to materialize before giving further comments.
