The iPhone that will be placed in the docking station of MacBook like device will power it up. It means the MacBook-like device will be running on the iOS of the iPhone and also it will be powered by the chipset and RAM of the iPhone. The device may feature an inbuilt graphics for better graphics.

An iPad can also be used with the MacBook-like device. However, since it is bigger in size, it cannot be placed in the docking station for trackpad. The iPad can be placed where the screen is present on the device. Hence, the device will possibly have a track pad which means it would be able to deliver a true laptop experience.

There is no information on whether the details revealed through patent listing would actually arrive in the near future. The Windows 10 Mobile powered Lumia 950 and Lumia 960 XL could deliver full desktop PC experience by the connecting the iPhone to an external screen, mouse and keyboard through a dock.

The Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus are currently under the wraps, but both phones are expected to deliver Desktop Experience by connecting an external display, mouse and keyboard to the S8 or S8+ through a DeX docking station, Gizmo China reported. Since the MacBook Air series include low-powered PCs. It is likely that MacBook Air may not feature processor and RAM, but rather depend on the hardware prowess of next-generation iPhone.
