Microsoft is looking to reenter the chatbot fray with something much tamer compared to its first venture. The company's first chatbot, Tay, turned out to be a massive failure after Twitter users trained it to be racist, and rude. This resulted in Tay being pulled down by Microsoft. The company is looking to make up for the mess with its new offering.

The new chatbot, named Zo, has been released by the company. Zo has already made an appearance on the chat application Kik. Although it is still considered as an "early access," users can message the bot.

Currently, Zo responds in the typical bland chatbot manner, and this is expected after the nightmare that was brought about by Tay. Tay had been developed to talk like a millennial, but it only took online trolls 12 hours to teach it to be a racist millennial.

To prevent such a thing from happening again, Microsoft has taken some steps. Zo seems to be programed to avoid questions regarding its predecessor. It has even shown an unwillingness to discuss certain topics that may be deemed controversial, mainly those related to politics.

Major tech companies, including Microsoft, believe that there is a big future for chatbots. This is evident since there have been major developments in artificial intelligence technologies.

It is not clear what Microsoft plans to do with Zo. Zo is available now but only on Kik.
