Xiaomi Mi 5 Release Date Rumors Indicate Feb. 20 Unveil Event, Full Specs Spotted On GearBest

Xiaomi Mi 5 release date rumors indicate that the alleged flagship smartphone will be announced on Feb. 20. The entire specs of the smartphone have surfaced on GearBest.

Xiaomi MI 5 is currently one of the most awaited smartphones. A Weibo poster of the alleged smartphone hints that the Xiaomi Mi 5 will be introduced to the world on Feb. 20. It has also stated the smartphone will go on sale from the very next day, Gadgetz Arena reported.

Liwan Jiang, the co-founder of Xiaomi had revealed in the previous week that the mass production of Xiaomi Mi 5 has already started. He had also added that the flagship smartphone would be launched after the Spring Festival of China comes to an end. The festival will begin on Feb. 9. Rumors have suggested that employees at Foxconn are working overtime to build more number of Xiaomi Mi 5 units to encounter high demand.

The entire specifications of the Xiaomi Mi 5 were spotted on GearBest, a retailer site from China, Android Headlines reported. The Xiaomi Mi 5 is expected to arrive in two variants. The first would be a regular edition and the other one would be a premium model.

The regular Xiaomi Mi 5 is expected to feature 5.2-inch full HD display. It will be available with 2.5D curved glass panels on rear and front sides. It will be powered by Snapdragon 820 chipset and 3 GB of RAM. It will either feature 16 GB or 32 GB of native storage.

The Xiaomi Mi 5 Plus is pegged as the premium variant. It will be coming with full-metal chassis and a 5.2-inch Quad HD display. It will be powered by the same Snapdragon 820 SoC. However, it is likely to feature 4 GB of RAM and internal storage of 64 GB.

Both the smartphones are going to feature 16 MP rear camera whereas the front-facing camera will be of 8 MP. Both handsets will also include a fingerprint scanner placed under the physical Home button. The Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS with MIUI 7.0 UI will arrive on both the devices. The Xiaomi Mi 5 is expected to feature a 3030 mAh battery whereas as the Xiaomi Mi 5 Plus may arrive with 3600 mAh battery capacity.
