Facebook is planning to combine social media and enterprise communication services with its Facebook at Work. The company plans to hold a special launch event on October 10 in London. This is the first time that Facebook will launch a major product outside of its domestic market.

Facebook at Work was officially unveiled in 2015. It went through a prolonged closed beta stage and is said to have prominent customers such as the Royal Bank of Scotland and Telenor.

With this product, Facebook will be directly competing with Salesforce's Chatter and Microsoft's Yammer. There are several other products such as Slack are in the market as well.

In December last year, Facebook said that the product would be available for free in the beginning. However, it may start charging for premium services. Now, Facebook at Work is expected to work on a monthly fee per user model, making it a new source of revenue for the social media giant. It is believed that more than 450 companies have been testing the product. Facebook has not revealed the pricing information for the service.

The new service will only be accessible through a Facebook's internal IT system and therefore will be more regulated than the regular version of Facebook.

Facebook at Work was scheduled to be launched in 2015. However, the launch was delayed, and several new features--such as a new call tab, group audio calling, and steady clip--were added to the service.
