Xiaomi Mi 5S Smartphone with Snapdragon 821, Metal Rear, and Under Glass Fingerprint Sensor Hits the Market

Chinese-based mobile company Xiaomi has officially released the Xiaomi Mi 5S smartphone.

The Mi 5S has a 5.15-inch full high-definition display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels and 600 nits brightness, Phone Radar reported. It is powered by the latest quad-core Snapdragon 821 chipset clocked at a speed of 2.15 GHz.

According to CNET, the Mi 5S sports an under glass ultrasonic fingerprint sensor which sits behind the big oval-shaped capacitive home button under the front glass panel. The sensor takes a 3D map of the fingerprint and whould recognize a fingerprint even when wet. It uses the Qualcomm Snapdragon Sense ID fingerprint technology.

The Mi 5S comes in two variants; one with 3 GB of RAM and 64 GB of internal storage and another with 4 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal memory. The 64 GB version of the Mis 5S is priced at $299 (1999 Yuan) and the 128 GB variant is going for $344 (2299 Yuan.

The Mi 5S features a 12-megapixel IMX378 camera at the back with phase detection autofocus, f/2.0 aperture, and 80-degree wide angle lens. It is also equipped with a 4-megapixel front-facing camera with an f/2.0 aperture for selfies.

The Xiaomi Mi 5S smartphone is packed with a 3200 mAh battery that supports QuickCharge 3.0 with the 9V/2A adapter. It supports NFC for the mobile payments with the Mi Pay.

The Mi 5S supports 4G+ with the three carrier integration (3CA) that offers a speed of more than 350 Mbps. It measures 145.6 x 70.3 x 8.25 mm with the weight of 145 grams. 

The Mi 5S comes with an all-metal body with a curved back. It will be available in gold, dark gray, silver, and rose gold color. The rose gold and silver colors come with a matte finish on the back.
